Webinar | Eds and Meds: Variability of Anchor Institution Employment Impacts Across U.S. Regions
Join us for this 45-minute webinar and discussion
The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has recently updated its anchor economy dashboard to include data from 2024. The updated data separates hospital and university economic impacts. At this webinar, the director of the anchor economy initiative at the Fed, Deborah Diamond, will review key insights from the updated anchor dashboard data set. The dashboard data allows regions to understand how dependent they are on “eds and meds” for economic activity, through its reliance index metric. The tool also breaks down impacts in terms of jobs, income and GDP so regions can gain a better understanding of the way in which universities and hospitals are foundational to their larger economy.
Understanding eds and meds’ economic impact is a critical step in actualizing the anchor mission. If you are working on demonstrating your campus's impact, join us to learn more about research and resources from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia that can help you make a case for your anchor mission.
